New 2011 EFTPS Requirements
Effective January 1, 2011, all federal tax deposits are required to be made electronically using the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS). Federal deposit coupon Form 8109 will no longer be accepted. If you make a deposit to the IRS, whether it is for income tax, payroll tax or other types of taxes, in any means rather than depositing electronically, a 10% penalty may be applied to each non-electronic deposit. We strongly encourage you to enroll as soon as possible. To enroll for EFTPS, visit www.eftps.gov or call the EFTPS customer service at 1-800-555-4477. Once you are enrolled, you can make electronic deposit via the internet or phone.
